Detroit woman used cancer scam involving her 12-year-old son to make money!!

A Detroit-area woman was arraigned Friday on charges of fraud and child abuse, CBS News reported. Carol Lynn Schnuphase, 47, is accused of telling people that her 12-year-old son had leukemia in order to elicit thousands of dollars in charitable donations. In addition to using this deadly disease as a way to make money, reports say that the mother also changed her son's appearance in order to make the idea more plausible. This included shaving his head and eyebrows every other week.... and crushing up drugs to put in his food so that he would appear lethargic!!!!!!!!! YES. Seriously.

CBS News said that a hospital has tested the boy and found no cancer. Sadly, he is going through opiate withdrawal because of the drugs his mother was feeding him. Poor thing!!

This is even sicker though. After Carol Schnuphase's family members and relatives reported her to the police, authorities removed the boy from her home earlier this summer. She then told past donors that her son had died and that she needed money for his funeral and burial, according to Macomb County Prosecutor Eric Smith. As if it could get any worse!!! This lady has no bottom.

Girl pleads not guilty in acid attack hoax case

We still can't believe someone did this!!

Bethany Storo reportedly inserted a plea of not guilty today on charges stemming from the acid attack hoax. CBS News said that the 28-year-old faces three theft charges, all of which are derived from a $28,000 donation given by people looking to pay for the girl's medical bills. Court records show that she spent around $1,500 of it on things like clothes and a laser facial peel.

According to the source, Storro's face was red and blotchy but largely unbandaged as she appeared in court today.

French Parliament Approves Ban on Ridiculous-Looking Face Veils

Yess--People are finally getting it! These ridiculous looking things are completely degrading to women, and nobody should have to wear them! Better yet, as a sign of freedom for females, we don't think anyone should be able to wear one by choice. Yes we said that.

The L.A. Times is one of several sources to report that today the French Parliament approved a ban on wearing face-covering veils in public places. The legislation is expected to have no opposition in the Senate, where it will be voted on in September. Another important person strongly in favor of the ban is President Nicolas Sarkozy, who is quoted as saying that the full veil "hurts the dignity of women, and is not acceptable in French society." The Times report said that the French President has used an accelerated legislative process to get the ban passed. If approved by the Senate later this year, the ban could be effective in the Spring.

Oh and one part of the legislation that we really like: Anyone convicted of forcing someone else to wear the full veil would be fined $37,900 (€29,900) and receive a 1-year jail sentence!

A smaller fine would be handed out to individuals who ignore the ban and wear the veil. Aside from having to pay they could also be required to attend citizenship classes.

Hopefully every other country takes note of this and does the same thing.

11 Suspected Russian Spies Arrested by FBI, Supposedly Living in the U.S. for years, posing as innocent civilians...

Anna Chapman is a name suddenly popping up all over the web, and that's because the attractive 28-year-old foreigner is one of 11 accused Russian spies living in the United States. Yesterday the FBI announced the arrests of 10 alleged deep-cover Russian agents who they've been following for years, the New York Post reported. The persons involved in the federal investigation are accused of attempting to infiltrate U.S. policymaking circles while posing as ordinary citizens for the last ten years. According to various reports, the spies were on a quest to obtain information about American weapons, political developments and diplomatic strategy.

Anna Chapman (pictured right in a Facebook photo) was arrested in New York on Sunday after being caught in a sting by two undercover agents. Prosecutors have deemed her a flight risk, calling the foreign beauty a highly trained "Russian agent" who is "a practiced deceiver." As for the other spy suspects, the Post reports that eight of the ten lived as married couples in suburbs of New York City, Virginia, and Boston. 

Each of the 10 suspects was charged with conspiracy to act as an agent of a foreign government without notifying the U.S. attorney general, which carries a maximum of five years in prison if convicted. Nine of those arrested also face charges of conspiracy to commit money laundering, which carries up to a 20 year prison sentence, according to the New York Post.

Goat Found Shoved in Woman's Trunk at DUI Checkpoint

OMG..  What the?? Horrible!

Thanks to a drunken-driving checkpoint, police in Virginia were able to rescue a goat from the trunk of a woman's car Friday night. The Bedford Sheriff's Office said noises were heard coming from the rear of the vehicle when it pulled up, so deputies asked the woman what was in the trunk. The driver reportedly said she bought a goat from a farmer to give to the passengers in her car, who are from Kenya but reside in Lynchburg, woodtv.com reported yesterday. The animal had been bound, and was panting heavily when animal control officers were able to rescue it. The temperature in the trunk was said to be around 94 degrees.

According to msnbc's report, the driver told deputies she was from the United Kingdom and transporting goats in this manner was acceptable there. She was charged with animal cruelty and released.





Why the f would you be transporting a single goat in your trunk like this?? And in 94 degree heat? It would be dead when you got to your destination, dumbass.

So upsetting :(

Abby Sunderland, Teen Attempting to Sail Around the World, Missing at Sea!

The 16-year-old California girl who attempted to become the youngest sailor to sail around the world alone is missing.... in the Indian Ocean! Fox News reports that Abby Sunderland last spoke with her family around 5 A.M. Pacific time when she told them she was in "quite a heavy storm". According to the story, the teen's family said that she was going to work on her boat motor, which had failed as a result of the weather, then call them back. She never did. A search was launched after an emergency beacon on Sunderland's boat went off, signaling that she was in trouble.

Abby's 18-year-old brother, Zac, said his sister's boat was most likely not submerged because there is another alarm that sends off a signal if the vessel goes underwater. Another family member also added some reassuring information: "Abby has all of the equipment on board to survive a crisis situation like this. She has a dry suit, survival suit, life raft, and ditch bag with emergency supplies. If she can keep warm and hang on, help will be there as soon as possible."

The 16-year-old sailor has a blog that details her travels on the water. Her family has added the latest post, which outlines the latest news on her rescue.

Woman Who Offered Sex for World Series Tickets Gets 1 Year Probation

A 44-year-old woman received one year of probation and 100 hours of community service after she offered to have sex for World Series tickets earlier this year, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported. Susan Finkelstein was convicted of the crime after she placed a suggestive ad online seeking tickets to a Phillies-Yankees game that was scheduled for October. Bensalem police set up a sting and said she offered sex for the tickets.

Judge Albert Cepparulo called Finkelstein's crime "incredibly stupid," saying that her ad could have left her vulnerable to a predator. He suggested that she fulfill her community service by speaking to groups of women about the dangers of the Internet.

Video Shows Bus Driver Saving Baby Found Sitting in the Middle of the Street

This is one of those stories that just goes to show how negligent some parents are when it comes to the safety of their children. In our opinion, they shouldn't have custody if things like this are going to happen.

Several days ago in San Antonio, TX., bus cameras captured the image of a baby girl sitting in the middle of the road, directly in the path of oncoming traffic. "From a distance I can't tell exactly what it is," driver Mike Hubbard told WOAI-TV, the NBC affiliate in San Antonio. "It looks like a dog, something moving around, I can't really tell what it was. ... I started slowing down and then I noticed it's a baby in the middle of the street."

Hubbard stopped the bus just feet from the 14-month-old child, who was later identified as Destiny Flores. A few seconds later her father came running out of the house and scooped her up, not saying a word to Hubbard as he left.

According to a report on WOAI-TV, Destiny's mother, Catherine Gonzales, 25, said she and her husband heard the bus's brakes and horn that night while they were watching TV in their living room. She said they don't how their daughter got outside. "We had the door open, but there's a screen door," she told the station. "I had the lock on it, but I don't know, maybe I didn't put it all the way and she just snuck out. I really can't even tell you."

According to AOL News, Destiny's mother appeared on NBC's "Today" show Friday morning with her sister-in-law and Hubbard, the bus driver credited with finding the girl before any collision could have taken place. "Today" said Gonzales' girls were taken away for a few days last month by Child Protective Services and then returned to the family. Apparently the Child Protective Services' investigation goes beyond what is seen on the videotape and includes possible drug and alcohol abuse by Destiny's father and domestic violence.

This lady shouldn't have her babies... if she does, she needs a full-time babysitter. We can't figure out how a 14-month-old could waddle past her parents (without them seeing) and manage to open the door herself. Bottom line... total irresponsibility!

Supreme Court Rules that Sex Offenders Can Be Held After their Prison Terms Expire

This is relieving.............

The Supreme Court has ruled that federal officials can hold inmates considered "sexually dangerous" for an indefinite period of time following the completion of their prison terms. CBS News reports that today's decision reversed a previous one made by the lower courts last year. The statute aims to control individuals who are likely to re-offend. Today's ruling marks a big decision in the history of sex offender legislation, one that definitely could have come sooner.

In 2006 President George W. Bush signed the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act, which authorizes the civil commitment of sexually dangerous federal inmates. The act also established a national sex offender registry, which has been huge in tracking and locating offenders.


We wonder how this new ruling will affect the number of crimes committed against children. In the long run it's likely to lower the number significantly (if held in place and enforced).

Marc Jacobs Employee Calls Cops Over Package Containing Cocaine, Thought it was Anthrax

lol... this is kinda funny. Sucks for the girl who turned it in, since now she'll probably be under investigation for drug trafficking.

The New York Post reported today that an employee at the SoHo Marc Jacobs store called the cops after receiving a package from California that she mistook for anthrax. After running a test, police determined the substance was actually cocaine, and the employee was taken in for questioning.

A source told the Post:
"The girl has no idea why she was sent it. The cops are looking into whether it was intended for someone else in the building. But she was not happy with how she was treated by the police and is considering filing charges."

A rep for Marc Jacobs had no comment, while a manager at the store hung up.

Miss USA scandal: Did Winner Strip?

Why do all these pageant winners have pasts that include pictures of boob flashings and/or other lewd acts?? Didn't they ever imagine they'd be in the public eye one day?

A day after winning the Miss USA title, Michigan's contestant will have to deal with drama stemming from pictures of her that were taken in 2007. Rima Fakih, 24, is shown participating in a dance contest that took place at The Coliseum strip club in Detroit. The pictures first surfaced on the website of a radio station that hosted the event, and since then 99.5 FM's "Mojo in the Morning" has heard from Miss USA pageant reps, Star reports.

Although the pictures seem racy, Donald Trump has stated that nothing will happen to the newly-crowned Miss USA because "she's fully clothed and a high quality person.” (Star magazine)

Former Food Network Host Accused of Trying to Hire Hitman

What is up with people really trying to set up murders-for-hire?? Crazy.

This time it's not a crazy young newlywed... it's the former host of a Food Network program. Juan-Carlos Cruz, who some might know from 'Calorie Commando', is accused of plotting to hire homeless people to carry out a murder, CA. police said Friday night. The Santa Monica Police Department would not release details regarding the intended target of the hit. However, TMZ is reporting that law enforcement sources have told them that the hit was to take out Cruz's wife, who had recently came into some family money. TMZ's story says that the Chef wanted her "out of the picture"... but apparently not the money.

According to CNN News, Cruz was busted when the homeless people he allegedly hired told officers with the Santa Monica PD's Homeless Liaison Program. Police Sgt. Jay Trisler stated that the undercover investigation, which had started May 7th, revealed the where and when of the hit as well as the terms of payment.

Juan-Carlos Cruz is being held on a $5 million bail on the charge of solicitation to commit murder.
Whoever invented that program is really thinking out of the box......

What Happened to LPGA Golfer Erica Blasberg?

LPGA golfer Erica Blaberg was found dead in her suburban Las Vegas home by police after a 911 call was placed on Sunday afternoon. She was only 25 years old, which leaves many wondering what could have taken this young woman's life so suddenly. According to her agent, Blasberg was scheduled to leave for a tournament in Alabama on Saturday, and her bags had been packed. Police are not commenting on who made the 911 call because they say it's part of the investigation. In addition, the cause of death is being withheld pending an investigation by the Henderson Police Department and the Clark County Coroner's office, which are awaiting toxicology reports, police spokesman Keith Paul told ABC News.

Mel Blasberg, Erica's father, told TMZ that he did not believe his daughter would have taken her own life. He also said that she seemed "very upbeat" in the days leading up to her death. Mel Blasberg recounted visiting his daughter on Thursday and says he spoke with her on Friday, the day before she was supposed to leave for Alabama.

A former All-American, Erica Blasberg joined professional golf in 2004 and was on her sixth tour with the LPGA.

So sad!! We can't help but wonder what took this young woman's life.

"America's Most Wanted" Fugitive Captured in Tennessee

One of America's Most Wanted was apprehended yesterday after a tip came in to the Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Bureau. Jamal Brown, 26, was arrested around 12:30 P.M. in Shelby County, TN., following a nationwide manhunt that started last October after he was implicated in the murder of two people in central Florida. According to a report, Jamal Brown and four other men forced their way into the residence of a man and woman, both of whom were shot dead. The source said that Brown and the other robbers demanded drugs and money. Another man staying in the home was also shot, although he survived along with his three-year-old daughter.

Brown will be returned to Poinciana, Florida to face the two murder and armed burglary charges.

Three People Arrested in Craigslist Murder, One Still on the Run

Police are working fast to bring four people to justice after a 43-year-old man was shot and killed in front of his family during the commission of a robbery which began on Craigslist. Three of the four people involved in the murder of Jim Sanders have been arrested, with the fourth still on the run. The wanted man has been identified as Clabon Terrel Berniard, 23.

Over the weekend, Amanda Knight, 21, Joshua Nathan Resse, 20, and Kiyoshi Alan Higashi, 22, were arrested during a traffic stop in California. All three pled not guilty yesterday in court to charges of first-degree murder, first-degree robbery and assault in connection with the April 28th incident.

Clabon Berniard is described as a black male, 5-foot-11-inches, brown eyes and black hair. He weighs around 200 pounds.

UVA Lacrosse Player Had History of Violence, According to Police

The UVA lacrosse player accused of murdering a member of the women's team once threatened to kill a female police officer when he was taken into custody, Foxnews.com is reporting. According to the story, an intoxicated George Huguely was arrested in 2008 after a physical altercation with a Lexington, Va., female police officer. Police Chief A.S. Thomas told FoxNews.com that the 22-year-old shouted "obsecenities" at the woman and became "combative." Even scarier, WTVR said that Huguely had to be tasered after he threatened to kill Officer R.L. Moss.

The violent incident came about after a 911 call was placed on Nov. 14th of 2008, and officers responded to a house near the campus of Washington & Lee University. Lexington Police told Fox News that George Huguely was visibly intoxicated when officers arrived and was "stumbling on to oncoming traffic in the street."

For his behavior Huguely pleaded guilty to two charges and was placed on six months probation.

Man Murdered in front of his Family After Putting Diamond Ring on Craigslist!

This is absolutely terrible!

KOMO-TV reported yesterday that detectives have released sketches of the third and fourth suspects wanted in a deadly home invasion robbery that took place Thursday night. Pierce County Sheriff’s Office say 43-year-old Jim Sanders posted an ad on the popular Craigslist website to sell a diamond ring. In what may have been a deadly mistake, multiple sources are also saying that Sanders gave his home address out to potential buyers. According to KOMO-TV, three men and a woman arrived pretending to be interested in the ring, but once inside one of them pulled a gun and tied up the parents. Detectives believe the father was shot multiple times while trying to protect his teenage son, who may have tried to fight back against the robbers. Sanders died at the scene, and his son was treated for a head injury sustained when he was pistol-whipped by one of the robbers.

Lake Stevens Police Chief Randy Celori said there's no doubt in his mind that the people involved in the shooting death are likely the same people responsible for a similar robbery Sunday night. Investigators said in that incident, two men arrived at a home in the 1200 block of 84th Ave. SE after responding to an ad on Craigslist for a flat screen TV. A woman and her husband were tied up while their 6-month-old baby slept upstairs. She said the crooks cleaned out the home in less than 10 minutes, taking electronics, jewelry and cash.

Investigators are hoping to recover DNA samples from the plastic zip-tie style handcuffs the robbers used in the Lake Stevens robbery.

Mom of 2 Abducted from Front Yard, Wearing only Pajamas

Another young mom has gone missing, this time from Grand Rapids, Michigan. 32-year-old Venus Stewart was abducted from her parents’ home as she walked out in the early morning hours to mail a letter. She was wearing only her pajamas at the time. HLN's Nancy Grace reported earlier tonight that signs of a struggle were visible at the scene, including heel marks in the yard along with gravel scattered across the sidewalk.

Now we are learning that the young mother of 2 may have just recently escaped a violent relationship. Crime Reporter Michelle Sigona revealed on her website that court records show Venus Stewart feared her husband so much that she filed three orders of protection against him over the course of their marriage. In court documents Venus writes, “I am scared to death and every day I live in constant fear and I am constantly looking over my shoulder wondering when he will appear again.” According to Michelle Sigona's report, in February 2010, Stewart packed up her kids and moved with her family to Michigan. Tonight's HLN's news broadcast also mentioned that the mother had just been granted temporary custody of her 2 daughters a week before she went missing.

Venus’ estranged husband was located overnight in Newport Beach, Virginia. Lt. Ricko of the Michigan State Police told Michelle Sigona that Douglas Stewart had not been arrested, but they are conducting an investigation.

Police ask that anyone who may have seen Venus Stewart or the vehicles to call the State Police post in White Pigeon at 269-483-7611.

Virginia Lacrosse Player Accused of Killing Female Athlete He Once Dated

A University of Virginia men's lacrosse player has been charged in the murder of a women's lacrosse player at the same school, law enforcement officials confirmed to FoxNews.com. George Huguely, 22, of Chevy Chase, Md., was charged in the death of Yeardley Love, 22, of Cockeysville, Md., Charlottesville police said Monday. Various sources are reporting that the victim and the suspect had once dated, but that is the only connection that's been established at this time. According to the Fox News report, Lt. Gary Pleasants of the Charlottesville police said Love's roommate called police around 2:15 a.m. to report that the young woman may have had an alcohol overdose. However, upon arriving, the officers observed that Love had already passed away, with "visible injuries to her body."

Police confirmed that Huguely was arrested in his apartment today, although they would not say what led them there.

So tragic... a beautiful young woman with a promising future, gone for what?
