This is so bizarre. Private detectives searching for the former boyfriend of Olivia Newton-John say their hunt is over after they received conclusive proof that he is still alive. Patrick McDermott, 48, disappeared five years ago during a night-time fishing trip in California. He had been dating Olivia Newton-John for 9 years and had just broken it off when he vanished. Eventually it became common belief that he had fallen overboard, but his body was never recovered. Now in shocking developments courtesy of news source telegraph.co.uk, we are learning that as of January last year, investigators said he was alive and well-- living off the coast of Mexico in a sailboat. Detectives claim they trapped him after setting up a website, www.findpatrickmcdermott.com. The missing man apparently visited the page in an effort to stay one step ahead of the search, and his IP address was traced. Lead investigator Philip Klein said he is convinced that the former cameraman faked his own death to escape debt and to enable his teenage son to receive a $100,000 insurance payout. Mr McDermott had filed for bankruptcy and fallen behind on child support payments.Wow... wonder how many sleepless nights Olivia NJ has had to endure for this scam.
