Joran van der Sloot: "I did not want to do it"

A confession has reportedly come out of Joran van der Sloot, the prime suspect in the murder of 21-year-old Stephany Flores, who was found in a Lima, Peru hotel room last week. Van der Sloot is notorious for his suspected role in the 2005 disappearance of Natalie Holloway in Aruba, although authorities were never able to nab him for it.

A day after Flores' body was discovered in a hotel room registered to his name, van der Sloot was arrested in Chile and extradited to Peru. The police who interrogated him reportedly got him to confess to murdering the girl, with whom he can be seen on a casino surveillance video from Sunday night. According to a report by CBS News, Police say that van der Sloot told them that he snapped when he realized Stephany Flores had gone through some of his personal things. The story, published in the La Republica newspaper, hints that the girl might have discovered something related to his suspected involvement in Natalie Holloway's disappearance. Peruvian authorities reportedly listened as van der Sloot described the moment when he realized that Flores had used his laptop. He flew into a rage and grabbed her by the neck, snapping it and killing her in his hotel room, states the La Republica. "I did not want to do it," he reportedly told them.

Peru's Chief police spokesman said that van der Sloot's confession came on the eve of a planned trip to the hotel, where the suspect was going to help reconstruct the events which lead to Flores' murder.
